LINCOLN MARTIAL ARTS CENTER

MARTIAL ARTS SCHOOL & DOJO IN LINCOLN, NE

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS IN LINCOLN!

For more than 50 years, Lincoln Martial Arts Center has been a place where discipline, respect, and personal growth come together through traditional martial arts training. As Lincoln’s longest-running martial arts school and dojo, we are proud to serve students across the city and surrounding communities with instruction rooted in authentic martial arts traditions. Located in south Lincoln near 14th Street, our dojo welcomes students of all ages who are seeking meaningful martial arts classes that strengthen the body, sharpen the mind, and build lasting confidence.

Life in Lincoln moves at a steady pace. Between school, work, and the rhythms of Nebraska’s changing seasons, it is easy to feel overwhelmed or disconnected. Martial arts offers a powerful way to reconnect with focus, discipline, and personal balance. At our martial arts academy, students learn practical self defense while developing the mental strength and character that carry far beyond the dojo floor.

As the head dojo for the Sho-Rei-Shobu-Kan Budo Organization, we proudly continue a tradition that began in 1972. Our mission remains the same today as it was when we first opened our doors: to preserve traditional dojo training while helping each student grow in mind, body, and spirit.

A Traditional Martial Arts Center Rooted in Lincoln

Lincoln Martial Arts Center has deep roots in the local community. For decades, families across Lincoln and nearby areas such as Hickman, Waverly, and Seward have trusted our dojo for authentic martial arts education. We are proud to be part of a city known for strong values, community pride, and dedication to personal development.

Training at our martial arts center reflects those same principles. Every class emphasizes courtesy, focus, and perseverance. Students bow when entering the training space, show respect to instructors and fellow students, and learn that progress comes through patience and effort.

Traditional dojo training provides more than physical skills. It teaches the discipline required to overcome challenges, whether on the mat or in everyday life.

Comprehensive Martial Arts Classes for All Ages

Our martial arts academy offers a wide variety of martial arts classes designed for students at different stages of life. From youth karate programs to adult martial arts training, our classes provide structured learning in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Students at Lincoln Martial Arts Center train in several traditional disciplines, including:

  • Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate

  • Kodokan Judo

  • Traditional Aikido

  • Matayoshi Kobudo

  • Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo

  • Self-defense training

Youth karate programs help children develop confidence, focus, and respect while improving coordination and physical fitness. Adult karate and martial arts classes provide a challenging workout while teaching practical self-defense skills and mental discipline.

Many students train in multiple disciplines, gaining a deeper understanding of traditional martial arts systems and the principles that connect them.

Experienced Instructors Dedicated to Student Growth

One of the defining qualities of our dojo is the experience and dedication of our instructors. Each instructor brings decades of martial arts training and a commitment to helping students progress at their own pace.

Many members of our teaching staff regularly travel to Japan and Okinawa to continue their training and deepen their understanding of traditional martial arts. This connection to the origins of these disciplines allows us to pass on authentic knowledge to our students here in Lincoln.

Instruction at our martial arts school is never one-size-fits-all. Our instructors work closely with students to help them build proper technique, confidence, and discipline while encouraging steady improvement.

A Family-Friendly Dojo Environment

Our martial arts center is designed to be welcoming for individuals and families alike. Parents often appreciate that our dojo provides a positive environment where children can learn valuable life skills while staying active.

Youth martial arts training encourages:

  • Focus and concentration

  • Respect for others

  • Self-discipline and perseverance

  • Healthy physical activity

Adults benefit from the physical conditioning and mental clarity that come with consistent martial arts training. Many of our students begin training simply looking for exercise or self-defense, only to discover a supportive community that keeps them coming back year after year.

At Lincoln Martial Arts Center, students train together, encourage each other, and build friendships that extend far beyond the dojo.

Martial Arts Training That Builds More Than Strength

Martial arts training is often associated with physical techniques such as strikes, throws, and defensive movements. While those skills are important, the deeper purpose of martial arts lies in personal growth.

Through consistent training, students develop qualities that carry into every part of life. Discipline helps them stay focused on goals. Confidence grows as they overcome challenges. Respect becomes a natural part of how they interact with others.

These lessons are especially valuable for young students growing up in a fast-paced world. Martial arts provides a structured environment where they can develop both physical ability and strong character.

Community Events and Martial Arts Culture

Training at our martial arts academy extends beyond regular classes. Throughout the year, we host workshops, seminars, and events that bring students together and strengthen our martial arts community.

These events allow students to learn from visiting instructors, refine their techniques, and experience the broader traditions of martial arts. They also provide opportunities to build friendships and share experiences with fellow practitioners.

The sense of community within our dojo is one of the reasons many students continue training with us for years.

Flexible Martial Arts Classes for Busy Schedules

We understand that life in Lincoln can be busy. Between school schedules, work commitments, and family activities, finding time for personal development can be challenging.

That is why our martial arts classes are designed with flexible scheduling options for both youth and adults. Whether you are looking for after-school martial arts training for your child or evening adult karate classes, our programs make it easier to incorporate martial arts into your weekly routine.

Students can train consistently while balancing the responsibilities of everyday life.
